Welcome from the

Coombe and Jones Dental Team

We would like to start out by thanking you for showing interest in our office.  We hope you will give us the opportunity to serve your future dental needs.

We are very proud of our warm office and our caring staff.  We continually strive to maintain our high standards of quality and care as our office continues to grow with the surrounding area of Central Oregon .  Although our office is a general dentistry office specializing in restorative and cosmetic work, we are pleased to offer our patients most dental services.

We have created this website so that our patients will be able to get useful information about our office, our staff and their oral health. For your convenience we are also able to provide a secure link to your dental account. Through this account you will be able to view your upcoming appointments and view your account balance.

If you have any further questions regarding our office after viewing our website, please feel free to give us a call.  We will be happy to provide you with directions or any other helpful information you may need.

It is with great pride that we treat each patient with the care and respect that they have come to expect.  Once again, thank you for your interest in our office.

New CT Scanner

In November, we acquired a state-of-the-art dental CBCT Scanner made by Terarecon, Inc.  New technology has graced us with its presence once again here at the Coombe and Jones office.

In the past, we’ve used a conventional panoramic (pano) x-ray machine to take two dimensional films for diagnosis of wisdom teeth, TMJ problems, or unerupted teeth.  Unlike the traditional pano, the new CT Scanner will create a high-quality, three dimensional image that is crucial in the diagnosis and treatment of dental implants and other oral surgery.

As part of our commitment to our patients, we constantly strive to stay atop of the latest technology and most recent developments in dentistry.  We are proud to aknowledge that we are one of the few general dentistry practices in Central Oregon that is able to offer this in-office service.

Volunteer Trip to Jamaica

This fall, Serene Gribskov, one of our dental hygienists, spent two weeks in Jamaica with a volunteer dental project called “1000 Smiles.”  In its fifth year, 2007 was record setting as 115+ volunteers from 4 countries served over 10,500 Jamaicans in education and clinical services.  Portable clinics were set up in rural communities where access to oral health care for the average country Jamaican is extremely difficult to reach.  Volunteers provided clinical care such as fillings, cleanings, sealants and extractions.  An educational team also taught preventative oral hygiene education in 31 schools, while giving each child a toothbrush.

“This experience was a combination of hard but rewarding work, plus getting to know some really wonderful people.  I really enjoy traveling and one of the best parts of visiting other countries, to me, is getting to know the culture.  Volunteering is such a great way to do just that and also to make a small difference in the world, one tooth at a time!  I’d like to give a special thanks to Lisa Sage and her IB students at Obsidian Middle School who gathered over 500 toothbrushes to donate to the project!  Also, I would like to give a big thanks to Dr. Coombe who donated many supplies for the clinic.  One Love!” ~  Serene Gribskov

Laser Technology at the Coombe & Jones Office

Since December, the Coombe and Jones team has been integrating a dental hard tissue laser into our everyday practices.  The Waterlase, manufactured by BioLase, is a laser that provides the capabilities to fix many cavities without using anesthetic (shots) and eliminates a significant amount of dental drilling.

The Waterlase uses laser energized water to safely perform dental procedures.  The laser energy is produced by combining a spray of atomized water with laser energy.  The energized water gently and precisely removes a wide range of human tissue including tooth enamel and soft tissue (gum) without heat or vibration.  The laser can make conservative cavity preparations and remove soft tissue without shots or that lingering numb feeling.  It can also help relieve painful canker sores and accelerate their healing.

The greatest benefit of laser dentistry is that many procedures can be done without needles or numbness in most cases.  In addition, the laser’s pinpoint accuracy precisely allows our dentists to leave as much healthy tooth structure as possible resulting in smaller fillings than what was previously necessary with traditional dentistry.

We are ecstatic about the benefits that this new technology can offer our patients.  If you have any questions about how laser dentistry can be a part of your future treatment please feel free to discuss it with us at your next visit!
