Our employee spotlight for this issue is Janelle Parker. Janelle has worked as a chairside assistant for Dr. Coombe for over three years. For this article, we’ve asked her to take a moment to share her history and her life outside of her profession.

My parents and most of my family are natives of Central Oregon and I was born and raised in Bend . I decided while in high school that I wanted to pursue a career in the dental field. At the age of 18, I started working in a dental office and shortly after that I was trained to become a chairside assistant. I have continued working in the profession for over ten years.

I graduated from Bend High School in 1995. Being trained in an office with hands-on experience was the best education I could have asked for. Because of my early work experience I was able to meet the requirements to become a certified dental assistant (CDA) by taking an exam. To uphold this certification, I annually take many continuing education courses.

I have been married to my wonderful husband, Nick, for eight years. We have a beautiful son, Isiah, who just turned five and is starting kindergarten this fall. We are so blessed to have most of our family in the Central Oregon area. Nick and I are extremely close to our families and love spending time with all of them.

I have many hobbies that I enjoy. In the summer, we do a lot of camping, boating, and playing softball with our family. I also enjoy walking and ballet dancing when I am not too busy with everything else in life! What I truly love the most is spending time with family and good friends.

I have been working with Dr. Coombe for over three years. This is actually my second time working for Dr. Coombe, as I worked for him for a short period of time in 1996. Coming to this office was a very easy decision for me to make because most of my co-workers are people that I have worked with in the past. The thing that I like the most about our office is the sense of closeness that I feel with our staff. It’s like having a second family when I come to work. We truly work together as a strong team and have a great level of respect for one another, as well as our patients. I look forward to many more years of working with Dr. Coombe, Dr. Jones, and our wonderful staff.
