Endodontic Care
Providing relief & protection for the inner workings of your teeth.
Endodontics is the area of dentistry that’s focused on problems of the inside of the tooth, known as the dental pulp. The pulp is comprised of nerves, blood vessels and tissues inside the tooth that supply nutrients to the tooth and transmit sensation...including pain. Endodontics, essentially, is the care of the root canals of the tooth and consists of three basic services: root canal therapy, retreatment and endodontic surgery.
Ending the pain & preserving your tooth.
Root canal therapy, often simply called a root canal, is performed on a severely decayed or infected tooth that is in danger of being lost. While sometimes feared, the purpose of root canal therapy is to relieve pain and save the tooth. A delay in getting needed root canal therapy can cause significant pain and tooth loss, put your oral health at risk and lead to additional and more costly required dental treatment in the future.
New infection can cause successful root canal therapy to fail, requiring retreatment. This involves removing the infection and resterilizing and refilling the root canals. If a tooth fails to respond to root canal therapy or is not a candidate for retreatment, saving it may require endodontic or apical surgery, which is the removal of the root tip and surrounding infected tissue.
